We sell photo booths, and we get the same question every week: "What software should I run?" Here is our plain answer for 2026. We kept it short. We checked every product name, platform, and price on the maker's own website in October 2026. If we could not find a price there, we left it out.
The old version of this page picked Darkroom Booth 3, Social Booth, and Sparkbooth. Things have changed. Darkroom is now on Booth 2025. dslrBooth is now called LumaBooth for Windows. Sparkbooth now runs on Mac as well as Windows. So we redid the list.
How to pick, in one minute
Start with your camera, not the software. The camera decides what you can run.
- DSLR or mirrorless camera on a Windows PC? Look at Darkroom Booth, Breeze Remote Pro, or LumaBooth for Windows.
- Mac, or a tight budget? Look at Sparkbooth.
- iPad booth? Look at LumaBooth for Apple or Simple Booth.

1. Darkroom Booth 2025: the full-feature Windows pick
Darkroom Booth is the grown-up version of the "Darkroom Booth 3" we used to list. The current version on their site is Booth 2025. It runs on a Windows computer, an all-in-one, or a Windows tablet.
What we like for rental work:
- It can shoot from top digital cameras, webcams, and GoPro, wired or wireless.
- Guests get photos, videos, slow motion, GIFs, and Boomerangs.
- It has green screen built in.
- Booth Control lets you check your booth from your phone.
- You can add coin, bill, and arcade-button payments for pay-per-use setups.
- It comes with more than 75 free templates.
A nice touch for busy weekends: if you already own Booth, you can buy a 10-day code for a second booth. Darkroom says the 10-day code does not include tech support unless you own a full copy.
Price facts from Darkroom's own page: the upgrade from Booth 2.x to Booth 2025 is $195. A year of updates and support comes with Booth, and an extra year is $95. We could not find the price for a brand-new full license on that page, so we left it out.

2. Breeze Remote Pro: the "build it your way" pick
You may know this one as DSLR Remote Pro. Breeze renamed it Remote Pro, and they say an old DSLR Remote Pro license is the same as a Remote Pro license.
Remote Pro runs on Windows 10 or newer. It works with most Canon DSLR and mirrorless cameras, plus built-in and USB webcams. It prints to any Windows printer.
This is the tool for owners who like to tinker. You can design your own touch screens, set up surveys, build trading-card layouts, run pay-per-print with Nayax or Stripe, and even run fully offline. It has a lot of buttons. That is good if you want control. It is a lot if you just want to plug in and go.
Price (from Breeze): from $349 per license.

3. LumaBooth: one name for Windows, Apple, and Android
The app many of you know as dslrBooth is now LumaBooth for Windows. The same company also makes LumaBooth for Apple (Mac, iPad, iPhone) and LumaBooth for Android.
- LumaBooth for Windows works with Canon, Nikon, Sony, GoPro, and webcams. It does photo booth, 360 booth, mirror booth, glam booth, green screen, and video guest book.
- LumaBooth for Apple can use the built-in camera, or hook to a Canon, Nikon, or Sony camera or a webcam.
- LumaBooth for Android uses the tablet or phone's built-in camera.
Why it's handy: if you run both a DSLR booth and an iPad booth, your crew learns one family of apps. They also have a free phone app to check on your Windows booth from anywhere.
Their pricing page did not show clear dollar amounts for the booth apps when we checked, so we did not list a price.

4. Sparkbooth: the budget and Mac pick
Sparkbooth is still the easy starter, but it grew up. It now runs on Windows 10 or later and macOS 13.7 or later. One license covers three computers, and you can mix Windows and Mac.
- Sparkbooth Premium is a one-time $149 license. It works with any webcam, from a laptop camera to a 4K USB webcam.
- Sparkbooth DSLR is a one-time $189 license. It controls Canon, Nikon, and Sony cameras over USB.
No subscription, and no per-event fee. Guests can get prints, email, text, or a QR code. There is a free 30-day trial, with a watermark on the photos.

5. Simple Booth: the iPad pick
If your booth is an iPad, Simple Booth is a strong choice. Their HALO stand puts an iPad in an aluminum ring-light body. Simple Booth says it sets up in about a minute once you know it, and the whole kit is about 49 pounds in its wheeled case.
The app does photos, GIFs, short looping clips, and video. It has digital props, AI backgrounds with no green screen, a live photo feed for screens, and guest data forms for your client.
Plans come in Core, Plus, Pro, and Enterprise. We did not see dollar amounts on the page we checked, so we left price out.

What we tell owners before they buy
Try it at home first. Sparkbooth gives a free 30-day trial. Ask the other makers how you can test before you pay. Run a fake party in your living room. Print 50 strips. See what breaks.
Test your printer with it. The software has to talk to your printer every time. If you are still choosing a printer, read our photo booth printers guide.
Match the camera list. Each app has a camera list on its site. Check your exact camera model before you pay.
Think about your crew. If a new helper can't run it after 10 minutes, pick a simpler app.
We are not going to repeat the full "how to choose" checklist here. If you want the long version, read choosing the right photo booth software for your business.
Want it all set up for you?
Many of our customers do not want to piece together a camera, a PC, an app, and a printer. That is fine. Our booths ship as a tested setup. Look at our photo booths for sale and ask us which software fits the booth you pick.
